I'm suffering from a few faults with my new XZ1:
- The alarm has now failed to go off at the correct time on two occasions. Both times, the alarm went off exactly an hour late. I've checked and double-checked that it was set correctly.
- Web browsing, particularly on newspaper sites, is painful. The scrolling is 'sticky': when you try to scroll the screen it stutters and pauses, and then unexpectedly opens a link. This occurs on 4G and wifi. It's very, very irritating.
- My phone has crashed a number of times.
- Battery life is disappointing.
I'm not too impressed so far, to be honest. The phone doesn't feel as though it's really fully tested and developed.
Are u in the Correct Time Zone? Im in the Timezone Gmt +1. I have to set the Time manualy because it was always wrong
I've set my location to the nearest city. Should that not set the time zone?
i am getting great battery life. easily blowing away what i was getting with my Z5.
it is similar if the screen is "on" a lot, but where the screen isnt being fondled (eg playing music while at the gym) the battery drain at the end of it is far less than i was getting used to. are there any things looking weird under the advanced menu in the battery menu as to why the battery isn't lasting? (also worth looking to see under data what is using up data as it could also give a clue to what is draining or causing crashes)
i havent noticed any stuttering with newspaper websites... but that could be because of 4g/wifi conditions being different. it is a bit glitchy until the whole page is loaded and if the page being loaded is optimised or not for mobile. so i can't replicate it as it may not be the same website you are loading
i have the time set by ""automatic date & time - use network provided time" (same for tme zone)
so again i cant replicate if you are using a different way of setting them from the options.
i will try to replicate the alarm.
problem is of course your settings and my settings, network and wifi are likely to be different so we will likely get different results
i have had one crash to automatic reboot since buying it. again i cant replicate your set up as i dont know what apps you are running. are any of your apps not android 8 ready? (i know one of mine, sony's playmemories (links to my sony camera) is not android 8 ready and it warns you it isn't)
the only issue i have so far is i think the audio is too quiet through earphones, sony hi-res earphones and through the front speakers.
I experienced the alarm issue again this morning. It went off OK yesterday, but this morning there was nothing.
I woke up 5 minutes after the set alarm time, and went into the clock app to check it was set properly. It was. Then, about a minute later it went off, but silently! It showed the snooze/dismiss options but there was no alarm sound. And neither the snooze or alarm buttons were responsive.
After some digging, it appears this is a known bug with Android Oreo. Very frustrating!

This morning, a third party alarm app went off correctly. The inbuilt Android one didn't.
At least I have a solution, but I resent being used as a beta tester for such an expensive device!
I have the same issue since update, alarm set for 7:00, goes off at 7:15, sometimes not at all.
Another issue I have is it seems to re-start at random, for instance - it connects to the car through bluetooth, often after I get out of the car and go to use the phone it has re-started (it needs to passcode rather than the fingerprint)!
Did you try boot into safe mode to see if any of your apps are causing the crasches? Or even a software reapair?
About the battery, try this:
Dive into the setting:
Settings-> System->Developer options -> Mobile Data always active
It was switched of in Nougat and is switched on by default in Oreo
Thanks, I've tried those things. This week's system update has solved the browser 'sticky' problem: I can now scroll smoothly without inadvertently activating links.
However, it's crashed twice since then. Battery life is OK, but nowhere near as good as my wife's XZ1 Compact or a mate's new Huawei. I can just about manage a day: I'm normally down to around 15% by bed time.
