G8141 is now a walkie-talkie, any ideas?

Bought in 2019, so done its time.

Audio output button on phone/whatsapp UI now switches between only me being audible (when AO on) and caller being audible (when AO off).  In theory we can just say 'over' when done, but that is not working out...

Tried a reset through PC companion and a manual factory reset through the phone without any effect either time.

Found one other mention of the issue on a very old thread (but no follow-up, so no idea of resolution)

@snazzy_time, Did you try to test the mic on the support app ? What's the result ?

The test made a sound with increasing frequency

App said "we" could not detect any change in frequency

Can you clarify more what do you mean with audio output button ? And how is it related to the phone/WhatsApp UI?
