Screen turns off when making a phone call

I own xz 1 compact and my screen becomes black and unresponsive when answering a call. I tried running the ear proximity rest but the illustration does not change or anything when I did the test. I don't have a screen protector over the sensor by the way. Any ideas?

I changed the battery on my old z3 comapct and it had the same issue when i got it back. When i looked closely, I saw that my screen is unglued at the top left corner (where the proximity sensor is). When i pressed the screen in, it started working again.. so i sent it back to glue my screen. 

Check if your screen is properly seated.
