Hi, really flummoxed here, yesterday I was using my headset, no issues, plugged them in last night to call someone and they didn't work, not recognised by handset at all, no noise coming from them whatsoever. I've been using the same type of Sony headphones for years now with no issues, I dug the original ones out of the box and still no joy. Rebooted phone and no difference. I have spent 4hrs this evening booting into safe mode, disabling/reinstalling smart connect etc. etc., and eventually went down the Xperia Companion/Software Repair route and it is still the same.
It's rare I have to ask this when it comes to tech... But... Help???
I'm sorry to hear about the issue, but it seems that you've done everything that you can to fix your phone, it's time to contact Sony directly >>> Sony contact us
Further to this I downloaded 'Lesser AudioSwitch' which can force audio out of the headphone jack... To me this says software rather than hardware.. But yes... When I have some spare hours I'll contact support... My that will be fun... 😕
Hi, I have been through the same scenario. The only thing that made my earphones work was to download the Lesser Audio app. There is a switch to change from speakers to earphones. Don't ask me how because Sony can't explain either. Give that a try, it shouldn't the only fix but at the moment it's all I have. Best of luck
I also find this site extremely hard to even send a message, the screen is jumping all over the place 😬
Yes. I too have encountered the same issue for the last few updates! Funny that.. Lesser Audio Switch is a triumph where it seems Sony software is failing.
Hey there,
just chiming in to report the same proplem and the same "solution". Lesser audioSwitch" is a workaround, but it seems that Sony needs to step up here before people begin sending in their head phones and/or devices wherever they cannot find the workauround.
Anyway, thanks for posting your solution!
I had the same problem, I solved it just by cleaning the headphone jack, i used a cotton buds (take off some cotton of it to make it thiner so you wont dammage the headphone jack) with a drop of alcohol, pull in and out carefully just a little bit. now my phone recognises headphones flawlessly again!
Did not work here. Lesser Audio switch does the job.
Same issue here, but the Lesser AudioSwitch does the job. I dont remember installing any software updates recently. Does anyone know which update is the cause of this?
Thanks!
