Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
The homescreen (launcher) and lock screen in Z3 will only rotate when the phone is docked (charger connected to the magnetic connector) and you hold the phone horizontally. If you charge it over USB or no charger is connected they will not rotate.

Have you checked that auto rotate is turned on - If not and placed on a dock then it will rotate regardless
Thanks, you are right. I thought that it was working all the time, but it was only with magnetic charging. I am going to look for some app, which can force it.
I can't get the screen to rotate on my Z3 either
I'm sure it used to work.
It doesn't roate in any of the apps, gallery, youtube etc all remain in portrait mode.
Auto rotate is turned on.
It doesn't even rotate when it's sat in the charging dock
Any help very much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
Does it work if you try the phone in safe mode? From what you're describing it should rotate so there's something wrong i'm afraid.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I've tried safe mode and it doens't work in that either
I bought this on the 9th October so not a very good start.
Whats the best/quickest way of getting it fixed which won't leave me without a phone for long ?
Thanks
Paul
I recommend that you first try reinstalling the software in your phone using a computer to make sure it's not a software issue.
You can repair the software in the phone using Bridge for Mac or PC Companion which you can download from http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-z3/.
But please note that performing a software repair will reset the phone.
If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.
