Hi guys,
I have a question regarding a Sony Xperia Z3 compact smartphone. My father had a Z3 compact, but it broke, so my father ordered a new one on ebay. Lets call it the ebay phone.
So the ebay phone arrived and it seemed legit at the first look, but...
The printed textfond on the background of the ebay phone is fat. Usually, the text isn't fat. At least on my Z2 and my fathers old legit Z3 compact. I add a screen to show you what I mean.
As you can see, the text in general appears to be thicker on the ebay phone.
Now.. What I noticed is, that the Android Version on the ebay phone is 5.0.2. My father already had a legit Z3 Compact, which had Android 6.0.2 running on it (Real Sony stock android. no root or custom android). When I try to update the ebay phone, the OS says, that there isn't a new Version of Android available for this phone.
And now, what made me suspicious is the fact, that there is already the SlideMe market app installed... This marketplace shouldn't be there...
My question is, could it be, that this phone is a fake?
What I already tried:
Checking the IMEI to see if it is legit. --> Yes, the IMEI checker confirmed it to be a Sony phone
Taking a picture at max resolution (20 MP) --> The resolution of the taken picture was indeed 20 MP.
Are there any other ways to tell if the phone is a fake?
Best regards,
Matthias
hi,
i just fall in that trap.
my phone was broken and i would have the same one (new or not, but a worked one) so i bought a 'new' on xbay and got a not-working one (but announce said it is in 'new shape' so working for me!) and it's not working at all.
By comparing it with my genuine broken one, i saw the differences on design !!!
i hate that kind of counterfeit !
here are my photos which resumed the differences on xperia z3 .
Many small design part to look at !
i hope it will help other people.
Have a sony day!
