Large thumbnails file

Hello,

I've been having an issue with my phone, which I already saw in other forums, but their solutions where no good for me.

My phone is creating huge files that can't be deleted, and they are eating up my memory. They are: .thumbdata3--1967290299 (5,7gb)

.thumbdata3-1763508120 (5,7gb)

And both are inside the thumbnails foldr in dcim.

And there are others which I can't find right now, but are a couple hundred mb big.

Is there any solution to this? They are getting constantly bigger!

Hi @santifpelayo and welcome to the community.

These are index files for images you have taken with your phones camera, the size of these files will depend on how many pictures you have taken. If you have taken a large amount of pictures it is possible you will get files this big.

I recommend that you try and reset these files, this will not delete any pictures store in your device and your device will generate a new thumbdata file for the pictures you have stored in your device. To do this, go to: Settings > Apps > Tap ... > Media Storage > Storage > Clear data > Ok.

Then restart your device, it may take a 15-20 minutes before you can see any pictures in your Album application again depending on how many pictures you have stored in your device. This is because the thumbnail data base need to be re-generated.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks, that sounds like it could actually work.

However, I can't find "Media Storage". I toggled system apps, but it still won't appear. It may be due to some of my apps being in spanish, but I can't even find the translated versión. Is there any other way to do that?

Thanks anyway!

I'm afraid I missed a step when guiding you how to do this, I apologize for this. Slightly_frowning_Face

The correct path is: Settings > Apps > Tap ... > Show system > Media Storage > Storage > Clear data > Ok.

Let me how it goes

Updating on the issue, I was able to find Media Storage, cleared the data but no luck, the files are still there. Any other ideas?
