Lollipop charging bug ???

After lolipop update I can't charge the phone to full, i already made a clean setup via pc companion after i resetted the phone.
My phone goes to 84% and starts blinking charging/notcharging, so finally after 10 h of charging it has only 85% of accu. Anyone had the same?

I recorded this video to show u my problem

https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=SQ6iQrqPKT4

P.S i can charge my mobile while its turned of ..
Also im sure there are no apps is consuming the battery while im charging it .

Please fix this with an update or just tell is what to do..

Interesting theory but we have tested this.

I have a Sony Z tablet with the magnetic doc. Yes I have the daydream features on both tablet and phone. I tried entire thing with AIDA 64 and it made no difference whether the cable or the dock was used. Same numbers. The only difference was the chargers and extension cables used.  One cable could not even put my device into CHARGE from DISCHARGE.

I have not flashed my C6903 Sony Z1 phone yet for obvious reasons but it also does not show the charge or discharge rate on AIDA 64 either so no point even playing with it.

As for rooting... it is hard to root the Sony and if you do you void warranty.  The screen rotation does not terminate any apps on my devices and in fact if I am not careful I can open some apps when placing the phone and tablet in the cradle. Not sure what you are using but I have not had a problem with Daydream mode at all.

Brett.

I agree with you Kudo0. I too have spent hours trying to get my z2 back to normal to no avail. This is on Sony now. Sent from my new Galaxy S6, looking at my limb Z2.

the magnetic port never worked for me, also not on kitkat. it discharges more then charging

i will return dock station + phone to sony repair and see what the "repair" will give.

need the phone for another 2 weeks, in november i can switch to a old nokia for time being

This nokia never let me down, old type, even has been waterproof as it has been in the washing machine for complete cyclus Smiling_Face_with_open_mouth_&_closed_Eyes

Something Sony can learn....

Interesting, I was under the impression we we all have the same charge to 75%,85%, etc issue with the magnetic port, but it seems some are having some slightly different bugs.  Like with you (bm069au) the cable issue, that's really odd.  Mine has always charged fast to 100% with cable, but the magnetic port wasn't.  For my specific bug it wasn't hardware related, it's a software issue.  Yours seems more on the hardware side which means it's slightly different than mine.

I bought my Z1 of eBay a long time ago so I never had warranty, but even if you do root it, all you have to do is flash a stock Sony rom and you're fully unrooted and have warranty again.  Bootloader doen't need to be unlocked either to flash stock roms.  If anyone is interested, it's the FlashTool by Androxyde, you can find more information on XDA.  It is extremely simple to flash stock Sony roms and takes about 10 minutes.  I have to use this to upgrade or downgrade Android versions, because OTA updates don't work for me.

Whenever I connected the magnetic port, it quit a few of my apps like Opera and a few games.  That was really annoying.  Well I believe Daydream and magnetic port mode are different.  Daydream I think you can turn off, but the port mode you cannot.

Lollipop itself is ok, no other brand has these problems

But the combination Lollipop and Sony Xperia Z1-Z4 will give glitches, probably depending on type of mainboard like Brett also mentioned. Tolerances of components and most likely a (bad) design not made for Lollipop will results in drop outs of units, not/half working, or only good working with a short cable or high cap charger.

I bed Sony already knows this, but returning of milions of Xperia's should be the result if they admit there is a issue...

I will return the Z1 under warranty in november see if they can fix the magnetic charger problem.

I hope they will insert a new mainboard, may be a different serie, hoping this issue is then solved

I tried the solution with XPosed and disable dock mode apk from waterman - with Cyanogenmod 12.1 and this solution doesn't work for me 😞

The Phone is still turning on an off and interrupts charging at ~92%

Everythime I connect the Charger, the Device is going on once - and then it starts charging. Now, when I pluged the magnetic charger, the screen is still off - even if reaching the magic 92%. But the LED is still flashing.

By the way, this XPosed Module is very interesting, becaus it makes the magnetic charger usable 😉

here the Link to the Forum of "disable dock mode apk" - maybe it works for someone

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-disable-desk-dock-t2526496

Edit:

There is another Mod to disable Diplay Wakeup - this doesn't solve the Problem, but the Screen keeps dark 😉

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-screen-tweaks-t2767521

Edit 2: After I disabled the Display Wakeup idiocy the phone charges up to ~ 90% and stop chagring - thats all. No blinking LED, no flashing display. The phone keeps cold and don't heat up to over 50°C. Well, I can't charge to 100%, but I can charge without observing the phone (maybe over night 😉 ). Wen I unplug an plug the charger the the LED starts blinking.

similar to this topic there is another topic about the same issue

/t5/Xperia-Z1-Z1s/charging-battery-problem-after-lollipop-update/td-p/984944

sony denied everything so to read in 1 post....

"not a common issue" but again 350+ post

That's absurd! Fine, mine had water inside or rather lightly moistured motherboard chasis, but Polish service wrote: "Rustied motherboard chasis; Charging section not affected; Device to replace for free of flaws" So mine was not fully waterproof, but after examination on KitKat 4.4 the charging went to normal again. Why my new one charges to 100 if the motherboard and charging section the same as in the old one? Don't have a clue. To remind: Never used a dock, my version not equipped with one, just noise cancelling set. So mine was charging to 86% on dedicaded sony usb cable, didn't try magnetic port.. ever.
It's like porsche would deny fire catching engines in 911 after just 7 cars burned... No our cars don't burn it was drivers fault they left it in sunlight... ridiculus.

i'm afraid there is no solution

on the other topic there was 1 guy, send it to sony service, new mainboard etc.. results: after 2 weeks same issue

It's clearly a production error, bad design, sony never will admit this, otherwise thousends of devices will be returned

They solved it on te z5

You have to stick to kitkat 4.4 i'm afraid and next time choose other brand phone or tab

next post will pass the 400....

another weird thing today with this **bleep** phone

got still version 5.1.1 installed. Charged it yesterday until max 92%, when the flashing display starts.

Switched the phone off, let it a hour on the charger, saw max charge 84%?? : smileydevil:

that's not all. This morning i want to switch on again. Impossible. led light flashes.. hard reset gives a buzz 3x. No powerup anymore

should the battery been discharged completly this night in off mode??

this phone is a really disaster...

never again Sony!

edit: yes indeed the battery was empty!. So with the xperia switched off it consumes a lot of current so it seems...

welcome into the high tech world of Sony
