mdnsd draining battery

just noticed my battery is draining much faster than it used to, and something called mdnsd seems to be the cause.

I don;t recall seeing it before, and I

haven't installed this, and it doesn't seem to be an app - what is it, and how do I remove it?

I had the same issues.

Found some posts on the net regarding firefox 4.2 and msdns.

Deinstalling Firefox 4.2 seems to solve it for me.

@andrewpain

probably an app constantly reading your SD card, could you take a screenshot? also do you experience the same while on safe mode?

We'll need more info to better assist you

charge the phone 100% use it as you normally would then once the battery reaches 10%

settings > power management > battery > take screenshots of:

1. the list

2. tap on the graph and take a screenshot

3. back > tap on the top 4 items on the list > take a screenshot of each

post them all here or upload the screenshots to box or dropbox or google drive or etc and post the link

thanks for the offer of help.

I too saw some stuff elsewhere about Firefox, so I uninstalled it....and it seems to be much better, if not quite as long-lasting as it was pre-lollipop.

certainly the mdnsd avatar has gone, along with his eating 20+% of my battery!

Just the normal - email 51% Facebook 7%, Google services 7%, screen 7%, Android OS 6%, cell standby 4% and Adguard (installed yesterday) 4%.

maybe if I'd actually spoken to anyone today that would look different, but nobody called....

looks like there's an issue with Firefox and an android process, and removing Firefox removed the issue.....

Since I deinstalled FF no further power consumption by mdnsd. For 3 days now. Seems as if it did the trick

There is a new version of Firefox out, which fixes this issue. Just get the latest one.
