New phone,new sim but no service and selected network unavailable

I just got the sony xperia z2 on a contrac 2 days ago, it arrived yesterday and i set it up but its not connecting to my mobile network provider. ive tried everything but at the top of the screen there is a yellow triangle sign that has the exclamation mark in it. and is says there is no service and the selected network is unavailable. Please can someone help me because ive tried everything already and I was so excited to start using my phone Slightly_frowning_Face

Check the sim card is in the right way as some members on here in the past have forced the sim card in the wrong way - You may also need to phone your network provider and register the sim card - Normally there is a number to ring on the sim card packaging

Are you using a brand new Sim provided with your contract phone or one from a previous phone.....

the sim is a new one that was provided with the phone

If you do have the sim inserted correctly, as just mentioned by Thommo contact your provider to make sure all is in order :smileysmileythumbsup:

thanks! turns out the sim card was already registered to someone else Expressionless_Face so they're sending me a replacement sim Slightly_smiling_Face thanks for the help
