proximity sensor issue

My phones screen won't come back on after making a call seems to be a proximity sensor fault.

As soon as I press the call button the screen goes blank even if it's not against my ear. If I press the power button it will come back on and then stay on even if I then press it to my ear.

Very annoying to be honest and I can't find a setting for it

Thanks

The problem was with me too. I am having XPERIA Z ULTRA. I solved my problem by myself. It was happening from when I have changed the screen guard. The sensor was blocked by it. Suddenly I focused on it and removed the screen guard. Now I have no problem.
Secondly you can check out for the proximity sensor by dialing the number from dialer.

Sometimes the screen is off during calls but when I remove the phone from my ear to look at the screen it doesn't turn on again. This is very annoying when wanting to end the call or doing anything else while calling

It seems like the whole turning off the screen thing isn't working as it should.

Such a disappointment from an otherwise very nice phon

Furthermore I noticed that my phone isn't going to standby after a while of inactivity or when I but him on a powersupply.
That's a killer for my battery.

I have a z2 with a problem regarding menus opening during a call. I've tested the sensor and it came back as good. Now I have turned off the 'smart backlight control' and no menus have opened for 3 calls since I changed the setting.
Hopefully this will work for someone else with a similar problem

I have the same issue and it is very annoying.

When I make a call and hold it to my ear it keeps opening menus, reading mails, changing settings etc.

I have tested the proximity sensor with the build in Diagnostics tool by Sony. Sensor works.

What is the solution to this problem?

I have read this Topic from page 1-6.

I am another user effected by this black screen as soon as i click to call someone. It is a nightmare, it is driving me insane. To elaborate if i call someone and it goes to voicemail i can be stuck there for anything between 1second to 1 minute franticly pressing the screen or power button. If someone answers the call and they hang up it goes back to normal most of the time but if they dont hang up i can again be stuck for up to a minute with a black screen.

Previos posts have suggested the following -

Screen Protector - I have no screen protector

Reset Phone - I have reset my phone a million times

Factory Reset - I have done a factory reset also a reset from backup

Proximity Sensor Check - I have dialed the settings and it says that the Proximity sensor is on

I have tried all of the above several times and still no joy. Does anyone have any other suggestions or resolution because as i said before this issue is genuinely driving me mad and i am going to through it out the window in a minute.

OK... After 2 days of dealing with sam sh... everyone here described, I finally found something that worked for me:

I went to the screen settings and turned off xperia reality and automatic brightness adjustment.

I then tried to replicate the problem, but proximity sensor seems to work OK when I turn reality engine and auto brightness back on.

Stupid thing...

I hope this is now over for me.
