proximity sensor issue

My phones screen won't come back on after making a call seems to be a proximity sensor fault.

As soon as I press the call button the screen goes blank even if it's not against my ear. If I press the power button it will come back on and then stay on even if I then press it to my ear.

Very annoying to be honest and I can't find a setting for it

Thanks

In that case first try to reboot your phone. If the problem still remains run a test on the proximity sensor via the service menu.

In the dialer enter *#*#7378423#*#*

Go to Service test > Proximity switch.

The sensor itself is located to the left of the Sony logo on the front top of the phone.

Put your finger on it and check if it works.

If it works OK, try to make another call and check if the problem still remains.

I got my phone today and my phone does exactly the same. During a call if the keypad is brought up and then put to my face it starts pressing numbers. Guy behind me got his on Friday and we tested and his does the same. Is there a fix for this?

I have the same problem although not every time.

Sometimes the screen is off during calls but when I remove the phone from my ear to look at the screen it doesn't turn on again. This is very annoying when wanting to end the call or doing anything else while calling.

Furthermore I noticed that my phone isn't going to standby after a while of inactivity or when I but him on a powersupply.

That's a killer for my battery.

It seems like the whole turning off the screen thing isn't working as it should.

Such a disappointment from an otherwise very nice phone.

Since somebody has to ask: You are putting the phone right against your ear, aren't you? Oftentimes the vause of an issue such as this is that people are trying to avoid accidentally pressing buttons by holding the phone slgihtly away from their ear, which means the proximity sensor doesn't kick in; they actually end up doing the very thing they're trying to avoid.

I am putting it against my ear and when it touches my face is when it happens. My iPhone I had before didn't do anything like this. I love this phone otherwise but hope this issue can be fixed

Any news to this issue? I have the same thing from 2 days....

Version: Android 4.2.2

Behaviour description;

Whenever I press a contact in the phonebook or history log (to call someone) the screen turns off instantly and abruptly preventing me from seeing if I actually initiated the call and from verifying who the call is being placed to.

In addition, it doesn't wake up from the first press of the powerbutton

- I have to press it twice which means if I dial someone by mistake I can't cancel the call in time before it actually starts ringing on the receivers end.

This behaviour was not there before and it is actually very annoying.

* Has any of the latest updates adjusted/changed any settings related to sensors in the phone?

* Are there any settings I can play with in the hopes of fixing this?

I just ran the proximity switch test and it works correctly.

Still I am experiencing the original posters issue, and in the links above the problem has been described by other people too.

This seems to not be an isolated incident and as I have stated in my own posting - it is actually very annoying in day-to-day usage.
