does it consider a factory fault when you realised that the back panel of your phone has a small gap? i only realised it when i send the phone for the 2nd time and the centre said i should address this asap but already too late.. and also, does scratch marks affect the waterproof of the phone? the guy in the repair centre said that to me that it might affect the waterproofing of the phone.. i'm curious since i never thought of it that way

My Z1Compact has developed issues recently 9 months into its lifespan, from what appears to be water damage. (mist on the inside of the camera lens, and than touch screen not responding). The phone number provided for "Assistance" in Hungary has not answered on three attempts, so I have sent them an email, from the mysupport.sonymobile.com site. The following day I took it back to the retalier, whom promised to sent it in for servicing. Two days later came an email message from sony support that told me to do just that. Having been quite frustrated I responded to them in a gentlemenly but rather sarcastic manner about their QoS. I got a response where they appreciated feedback of any kind. Then I responded to apologize for being so frustrated, to get a mailer -daemon auto response telling me that my e-mail address has been blacklisted by the recipient. Whoaa.

From the posts I have seen here about servicing, I have serious concerns, and I would love to hear what SONY would have to say about all this. Whom do I contact with, if the number provided in my country is not being answered, and my email being blacklisted. This carries a seriously bad message, I'm not happy with: Sony does not want to hear from me or us.

Is there a central address for sony where they actually handle complaints like all of these here?

I had my z1c for about a year and last week I was in a pool and taking video.  I had a mask on and had the camera about 30cm 12 inches) under water.  I saw two bubbles come out of the power button and the phone went dead.

As there is no service center nearby I used a hair dryer to heat up the back panel (soften the glue) and removed the panel using a thin guitar pick.  I then removed the battery and blew the hairdryer on the internals for about 30 minutes.  I reassembled it and it started up fine.

So while I do have a working phone, I certainly won't take it in the water again.

Also this shows that the phone was compromised not by the flaps being left open but by faulty waterproofing in the power button, at least in my case.

Similar, thing is happening with me right now. Slightly_frowning_Face I am being asked to pay 27000 INR, when the price of Z1S in the market as of today is 26000. Something seems to be wrong with Sony service

I bought a Sony Phone on recommendation.

The box, paperwork and specs clearly say that the phone is waterproof providing that the flaps are closed properly.

I tested it out at home and worked fine. I used in the shower, went swimming and everything was good for a month.

Then my nephew licked the screen so i went to go wash the phone while making sure all flaps were closed and they were.

Then my phone said that I removed the SIM and started rebooting. This process occurred twice. Then the phone just started vibrating rapidly 3 times when I plugged in the charger. And water was condensating on the camera lenses both front and back.

I couldn't believe the phone was water damaged after making sure ALL flaps were closed properly.

I took it to a mobile repair shop and even they couldn't fix it. Sony's warranty dosen't mean anything.

Don't make the mistake myself and hundreds of other have made.

DO NOT BUY A SONY MOBILE PHONE

It's quite obvious now that this phone isn't really waterproof and Sony have been lying in their marketing and advertising campaigns. 10 mins in shallow water and mine is dead too. Has anyone considered legal action against Sony for false advertising? I'm thinking of doing this in India.
