xperia z screen broke, cannot get into my files on my pc as there is passphrase on my device

Hi, Please help.

I recently dropped my device and the sreen cracked. As a result of this the touch screen dose not work so i cannot get past my passcode to unlock the phone. Before i get my device fixed i would like to get all my files ( photos ect) off my device in case i lose them all when its getting repaired. Tried to go on it through my pc but still said it cant sync unless i put my code in.

Dose any one know if thier is any other way i can put the code in with out using the touch screen? Thanks for all the help any one can give me Slightly_smiling_Face

Hey guys,

I found this topic after guess what - Phone broke. Smashed the screen front & back glass and no display.

So my 1st thought was to follow the advice, but I found an even easier solution. I pressed the camera button on the side of the phone at the same time as connecting a standerd USB cable to my MAC. It worked! The computor thought the phone was unlocked and I could transfer all my files off.

Also tried it with an old laptop running Vista. It took a couple of attempts, unpluging the USB cable, pressing the camera button, but got there in the end, full access.

Hope that helps a few more people.

Cheers

I have broken the second screen on my phone, the top screen is fine but i can't see anything on the screen. I have tried:

'

1. Unplug the phone form the computer

2. Plug in a USB keyboard

3. Type in you passcode. (listen for the unlock tone/noise if you have one set.)

4. Immediately unplug the keyboard and plug in the computer'

But am having no luck! I cant understand why it wont work for me! It is a sony xperia x3 compact with a password on it. i have typed it in numerous times on the keyboard but cant seem to get anywhere!!

I love the phone, hate the fragile screens. Just broke my third screen yesterday and I have had covers on all three. Already claimed on insurance earlier so can't do that again this year. Great. Can't even turn my alarms off which is driving me nuts!

NUTS!!!!!

Cracked screen = no activation of any buttons, even power off. It's impossible.

Sony: THESE PHONES HAVE SCREENS TOO FRAGILE FOR THEIR OWN GOOD.

Thank you for listening.... But Sony - ARE you listening???

Mine broke too, they would never admit fault.

Anyone here paying to fix screens has been ripped off too.

There is a fault with them but Sony will only fix if you get a body like th BBC behind you and your claim.

I don't know how these people sleep at night!

A bit late to the party, but might be useful for anyone else who has the same problem and searches for it (like I did).

Anyway, I smashed the screen on my Z1 Compact.  Even when the screen is locked, you can still take photos by holding down the camera button (which opens up the camera oddly enough).  Anyway, when you do this it sees the screen as "unlocked" and you can get to all your files through a PC that's connected Slightly_smiling_Face
