Xperia Z1 - Sony PC Companion WiFi Connect Problem

Good day!

I'm Having a problem connecting my Phone (Xpeia Z1) to my PC through PC Companion (Wifi Connection). After some steps my phone gets stuck and wont continue on the last step. i even Left it overnight to give time to connect but i woke up  and still its connecting. i have successfully paired up my Device on my Office PC. But i can't get it to work on my Home PC/Laptop. i Don't know if I'm having some problems on my PC or my Wifi Router. So i need some help from you guys, what do i need to check to get this thing to Work. If any on you have the Same Problem please Post it Here, or if you have any solutions please give me some advice.

I Was Stuck on this part of the Setup:

So There, as you can see, i have successfully Paired my Phone and my PC (ANDREWSTAR). But on this Part (Connecting) i got stucked. And it never Finished Connecting to my PC.

The Other Device Name (AKD-RSF) is my Office PC which i Connected my phone without Problems.

So there you go guys, i could connect it Through USB Connection but i don't want to always open the Micro USB Cover of my Phone because it might get loose and eventually the Water Proofing capability of the phone gets useless. That's why i want to get this thing working up. The other Workaround i find here is to use a 3rd Party app to Transfer Files wirelessly. But i don't want that. Because this thing should work and i think this is a safer method of transferring my files.

Thank You Guys!

Andrew, I know this won't help you, but I have exactly the same problem! It gets to the step you mentioned and then it just hangs. Phone says "Connecting", PCC just sits there. But did you say you've connected successfully on another computer? So the actual PROCESS must work?! I'm wondering if anyone in support can offer any explanations or possible fixes to help us both? I really want to connect to the phone via wifi because I'm worried that the cover for the USB port will eventually fall off if I have to continually connect via USB, plus this is the age of WIFI!!!

This is a real shame because I've been SOOOOO impressed with the phone and the PCC Software so far, coming from an iPhone fanbase. This is a "minor glitch" that seriously lets down the whole "experience" and leads to a lack of confidence.

Hopefully we may get some suggestions?!

Hi All I had the same problem. (Using Win8 Pro 64bit) Disable your antivirus Firewall and restart the connection process in Pc Companion. This sorted out my problem. Using Bitdefender IS 2013

Do not ask me how I got it to work, but I am now able to connect my xperia Z1 via wifi and also manage the images and files etc.. I think it had something to do with searching for a wifi device on the laptop itself.

Sharing via wifi connection problem is solved.

  1. First you have to connect pc and divice to same wifi network
  2. open sony pc companion or sony bridge(mac users). DO NOT CONNECT THE PHONE OR TABLET
  3. click on how to connect
  4. cick wifi connection and hit next
  5. then again hit next untill the sony companion wants you to put your USB to device
  6. then hit next again it may take a wile to next step keep patience
  7. then you shuld go to your device wifi option and tap the scan option...(THIS IS THE MAIN THING YOU HAVE TO DO WITH)
  8. Now the pc companion found your device
  9. hit the next and finally finish button.

Please infrom me wheter you connected successfully or not. THANK YOU.

I've just had the same problem today, and this WIFI-SCAN thing did the trick!

However, it started working right after i refreshed the connection on the LAPTOP, not the phone.

Thank you Rez!

Hi, I've had the same problem and could never get trhough the last step.

I found the answer in the comments of a video on Youtube that worked for me.  Basically I've juste changed the setting to consider my wifi connection as Home Network and everthing work fine.

If you are experiencing this problem the solution is to allow PC Companion & Sony Mobile Update Engine through your firewall. I have an Xperia Z & I use AVG Internet Security. Before you start you will need to find the filepath for Sony PC Companion & Sony Mobile Update Engine then follow these steps:

1. Open AVG
2. Select Firewall
3. Select Settings
4. Select Applications

5. Select Add

6. Browse files & select Sony PC Companion 2.1
7. Select Create

8. Repeat steps 5 - 7 for Sony Mobile Update Engine
9. Select Apply

10. Select Ok
