Hi,
I have purchased this mobile in India. I see in the network type that it supports only 2G & 3G . LTE option is not listed in network type. Is it just software update required or inferior model sold in India ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
There are different types of Z2:
- D6502 does not support 4G (HSDPA)
- D6503 supports 4G (LTE)
What is the model number - Settings then About phone
You should have informed before you bought it.I am sorry but your model does not support LTE.
No LTE support. It is strange that companies like Samsung too launched S5 with LTE at very high price. Then I noticed a price drop and that version of the S5 did not have LTE. Buyer beware.
ohh ok.. In mobile shop, they have mentioned that just software update is required. Once I bought, called Sony Customer care , they mentioned just software update is required . Later again sent email to customer care, just to cross check and this time they have mentioned that this does not support LTE.. This made me to get confuse.. So, thought give a try in forum..
Anyway..Thanks for update.. When I see hardware spec, it resemble same as launched in other countries inlcuding Qualcomm Snapdragon chip .
I know that maybe some of the people in the mobile shops are not informed or just the buyer wants to get it over with quickly.
I was fooled too. A Sony fan, I thought I put an end to the agonizing over which model to go for, by buying one which would have everything (so I thought)!. Alas, the one sold to me did not have LTE. All clarifications came after I was billed. Sony is selling only 6502 in India which doesn't have LTE. 6503's that are available are imported through other channels and unlocked from carriers. In another thread, it was clear that that the CPU is capable, but apparently you'd need antenna for the additional bands, which MAY make it software un-upgradeable to LTE. On an optimistic note, I found LTE had been introduced only in small cities except Bangalore. The additional band dedicated for this (?) was 2300 MHz. I wonder if the 2100 antenna cannot be used for 2300 MHz with software upgrade. But Google and Sony are unlikely to take the trouble for us poor saps. Can't understand why the 6502 was made at all. Once International bands are standardized, most users of such expensive phones would need it. Apple did it, why not Sony. At present though, Unless a lot of bands dedicated to 4G are introduced, there may not be much of an advantage in speeds in the heavy data traffic areas. Let's see when Reliance starts using the 4G licence. Then you can empty your pockets again for z3.
