About upgrading memory, your opinions, please?

Hello,
I want to upgrade my computer's memory. 512 mb Sony memory is so expensive (about 300 USD). Can I use replace it another brand memory(for example, OEM memory products, about 66 USD). Can it be any problem or does it work reguarly? What is your opinions?

Just upgraded my A317M with 1gb of Crucial memory, perfect

i bought a 1GB Ram memory from Kingston. Kingston is probably the best maker of ram memory in the world. A bit more expensive than crucial, but around 1/3 the price of Sony. www.kingston.com. Of course, they have configurators and all that sort of thing.
