DVD RW drive

Hi everyone,
My A215Z's DVD drive after 5 months of working fine has the following problem. It doesnt "see" blank Cds or DVDs.I've tryed many different brands. Everytime i put one inside it makes horrible sounds for about 2-3 mins and then the drive is unusable.It "sees" however CDs/DVDs with data, it takes it a while to, but eventually it reads them.
I ve formatted the Notebook but the problem remains.Do you have any idea what's going on?Am i going to need a new drive?

Have checked VAIO-Link for Firmware updates?

Yes, I already have downloaded the firmware update. Didnt make a difference though

Not wishing to be the bearer of bad news but I recently experienced exactly the same problem with my S2VP. The computer was only 3 months old. After 2-3 weeks of the sprt of problems you describe the drive subsequently packed up. Thankfully the warrenty took care of everything.

daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. Is the warranty valid globally or just in the UK?
