MINI-DV CAMERA PLAYBACK

I have pcg-fr315s and would like to playback from my mini dv (trv33 sony) recordings directly on my notebook screen.
I have a usb cable but, seem unable to achieve this. Maybe its me not doing the right thing..
Can anyone help?
