New Intel 950 (945 Express Chipset) Wont Install On Viao Notebook

I dont like the driver that was in my vaio when I bought it and I would like to update it but when I go to install it I get the message "the driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer. Setup will now exit"

The only drivers that are on the sony website are the ones that I already have, this is the second update for the graphics and the other one was unstable. I have tried every which was to install this new driver including extracting the contents and updating via device manager and this dosent work either it says that I already have the newest driver.

My computer is sony viao N31 S/W with the Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset and the driver I am trying to install is any of these 2 http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2301&OSFullName=Windows+V....

Hi y2krog2000,

The automatic installing .EXE version won't work because Sony have modified the parameters so that only Sony produced drivers will install.

However, I believe the .ZIP version will install without problems. Right-click on the downloaded .ZIP file and choose "Extract All". Extract the files to a folder you can find easily (like C:\Intel950).

Sometimes you will find a Setup.EXE in the Extracted Files - try running this.

However, you will probably need to install the driver manually by the "Have Disc" method: -

1. Click "Start" then right-click on "Computer" button and then choose Manage.
2. Permit the User Account Control to run by selecting
the "continue" button. When the Computer Management window opens select the
"Device Manager" icon.
3. Select "Display Adapters" then Double-click on the graphics controller
shown.
4. Click on "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver".
5. Select the following option: "Browse my computer for driver software".
6. Select the following option: "Let me pick from a list of device drivers
on my computer".
7. Click on the "Have Disk..." button and then the "Browse"
button.
8. Enter the directory where you unzipped the file you downloaded,
and then enter the "Graphics" subdirectory. Locate and highlight the
"igdlh.INF" (if 32-bit) or "igdlh64.INF" (if 64-bit).
Click on the "Open" button.
9. Click on the "OK" button. A window listing all of the
available display types should open. Select the display
adapter that your system contains and then click on the
"Next" button.
10. Click on the "Next" button. The operating system will install the driver.
Click on the "Finish" button when done.
11. Click on the "Close" button and then click on the "Yes"
button to reboot. The driver should now be loaded.
