Noisy audio output on Vaio laptop

I've just connected my VGN-N31 notebook up to my stereo via the audio output, however I find that the signal is noisy while the laptop is powered using the ac adaptor, creating annoying whistling and high-pitched sounds. This noise however disappears straight away when the laptop just runs from the battery. Is there anyway of rectifying this?

Hi Pablo and welcome to Club Vaio.

It sounds like you have interference between the Power Supply and the Audio Output.

You could try using a better screened cable from your audio output to your stereo to see if this helps. However, if the interference is internal, you will need to speak to Sony.
