Poor clarity from image taken with Photo Pro

Can someone please explain to me why a phone being touted as having the most advanced camera system on phone produces images with with such poor detail!? I took both pictures below with P-mode in Photo Pro.

The first image has dynamic range turned on and the second auto-HDR. I know the photos are being comprised due to being JPEGs but level of clarity is not up good. My Pixel 2, which I upgraded from to 1ii, would capture much more detail in it's pictures. I know there is a lot of computational work going on, but still, I'd expect much more from a flagship phone priced at £1100!

I hope these and all the other issues (ironic all to do with cameras) are fixed soon!20200630_210546.JPG20200630_210557.JPG

I am also in the same boat and hope Sony release a proper firmware, if not, returning my device is the only option for me. My Xperia X gives me better shoots....

Yeah, unfortunately, the camera kind of sucks. I had better results with my previous phone (Huawei p20 pro)

Exactly the reason I didn't buy the phone having tested it out in the store with few takes. Unfortunately it doesn't really live up to the expectations often giving same results with other phones. Doesn't justify the hefty price tag.

I am just wondering if some reviewers got "special" versions of the MK2, some of them show clearly better image output from "all lenses". Wich definitively is not the case with my device.

But the negative reports are actually counting up and this is not good for Sony....

Interesting thought. Have been wondering about that myself. Or apparently we need to have far better skills at understanding all the features of photo pro and all the adjustments it needs to go into for a single shot. Worth the effort?

For sure I am not the best photographer out there, but also for sure not the worst. Using the ProCam App is easy as using my other "real" Sony Cams (HX90 / H350V / HX100 / Alfa 5100 / Alfa 68, RX100M7) or even other phones with camera. Like the mostly unknown Kodak Smartphone - Camera that also has full manual control. Or the LG Series. Nope, I think it's not my  or our fault since many others complain, some of them pretend to be pros, just check YouTube for the big names or in the last days more and more reviews from most known sources.

I have noticed one thing. Al lot of people keep saying use auto mode in photo pro, said I decided to give it a try and I have to say the difference between auto and P & S mode is major, pictures are a lot more detailed.

Try it out.

Yes, indeed, and I know, it gives more proof images out. But still...way behind the expected. And then, only proper results (as already stated, inconsistently) with the 24 lens. So let´s hold this as LAW: the only good lens comes from Sony, the other two are Samsung lenses.

Let me post one image I shoot right now, unedited from my MK2.DSC_0000_BURST20200701195933978_COVER.JPG
