Xperia 1 file transfer does not work

To download the "Xperia transfer mobile" app it says I do not have the right version on my new Xperia 1... how is that possible..

I want to get all the content of my old Xperia xz. On that device the Xperia transfer app is installer and seems to be working

"Dedicated Apps" = Bloatware.

I've owned phones from nearly all brands, and when they start messing with stuff and adding stuff, it's usually always garbage.

Not to mention their "customisations" almost certainly slow the phones down, like a certain brand and their Nand chips that have finite reads and slow down after a month or two, leading to a year down the line, you would swear its the battery causing the phone to shut down early.

The best option, by far and away, is the pure vanilla, or as close to as you can get it, Android, and YOU

pick the apps you want from the store, because I guarantee, anything Samsung or LG come up with, there will be someone who will better it, and it'll be on the Play Store.

The only obvious bloatware that came along with the Xperia 1 t'was Asphalt 9....

I do not like stock Android, I like customized ones with animations and unique features / functions that differentiate from other brands.

Becoming more and more stock + closing support for unique xperia apps and especially software treatment (x1 seems abandoned when it comes to bug fixes and feature enhancements) forced me to make a decision to switch the brand.

Apart from it the communication with client does not exists and there are no changelogs (looks like really there are no other changes than security patches, probably that's why).

Well, this is only my opinion and someone may have different view, but I will not changenmy mind.

Soon would like to sell my x1 and switch to other brand but have to check which of the top flagships has has best Android customization far from stock and best software feature support. At sony even camera app looks like 10 years ago... Very outdated.

@pressefr,

...And that dungeon crawler game, Arena of Valor.

@azzido2,

I see what you are saying, but I put it akin to say, someone swearing Beats headphones are the best, all down to the packaging being lovely, and the advertising, but the actual product when in use, is complete garbage,

The grass isn't always greener.

Samsung and Huawei heavily customise Android(well samsung have laid off so much these days as their launcher/Android sytem is laughable, and how it slows down over time, their own apps are sub par, and their app store/account system is much lacking.

Huawei with their Emui is the same, they have an eco sytem, a market, accounts sytem, and their apps are very much bloated and nag the user constantly.

I was glad to see the back of my P20 pro and Samsung Galaxy S9.

Whereas something like the Pixels, while not the best phones, have vanilla Android, regular updates, probably the most regular,, and allow the user to fully customise the Android experience.

All brands take an age with updates, and then factor in the networks have to get involved too, so that causes delays before they filter down to the users.

Arena of Valor, Fortnite, and Asphalt 9;

were all games that Sony partnered with to meet the 21:9 ratio for ready-to-play.

I'm for purchase I only had Asphalt 9 locked, and Fortnite pre-loaded.

I'm actually less offended of the bloatware because it was announced as a partnership and in the keynote. Compared to randomly added to my first mobile phone in the 2000s with very little memory. Now and days we are working with a 128GB device with microSD, up to 1 TB. I personally have a 400GB microSD card.

I think there are other things to complain about with Sony new devices:

Each new phone some software becomes catabolized by each new phone; when users are accustomed to the software for the past years of using their previous device. Same as Snapchat users uproar when they change features; it is the same with serious Xperia users. Messing around with our Xperience doesn't go lightly.

Or when Instagram touch-sensitive was way too sensitive when scrolling you accidentally hearted their post. An Uproar, but do devs really know when.

Hi @Vicky777

Indeed, Xperia Transfer Mobile has been discontinued.

On the other hand Google Backup & Restore has been improved lately.

To enjoy a smooth procedure you should reset your Xperia 1.

After a reset you will be guided to Google Backup & Restore.

Start with a backup of your old device to Google Drive my ip birthday wishes tneb.

Google creates a rather complete backup.

Google backup can be found in Settings->System->Backup.

Data of apps like WhatsApp and Signal are not included in the Google backup.

You'll have to goto the settings of these apps to create your app backup.

As an extra reassurance you'd better copy all your photos from your device to your computer using a USB cable. Just copy the DCIM directory from the phone to your computer. If you have pictures on a SD card then copy DCIM from SD to your computer as well.

To check if your Google backup is recent goto Settings->Accounts->Click on your Google account->Click on Aaccount sync.

Now you're all set for the transfer.

I did many resets on different phones and lost much data for sure.

And always, after the initial pain I forgot and went on with my life.

Shamesung and apple slows down in time not due to customized ui, but because they are slowing down the processor after a year with software "update". This was proven in many courts and they agree to pay for it (what is few millions of euros for what those companies are earning???).

When it comes to sony they do not allow you to customize your Android. Now even such simple option like select your main screen (home screen) is not available. They removed it hence my experience degraded.

This is now what I expect and will consider it when buying new phone.
