Sony A7III focus has just stopped working

Hi,

I was so excited with my purchase of the Sony A7III a few weeks ago.

Photography used to be a hobby of mine many moons ago, & i'd done my homework on which camera to give all my attention to, on taking it up again.

Unfortunately, this morning i noticed, whatever i tried to do, the camera just will not auto focus in any of the different modes!

Im pulling my hair out!

Tried reset, latest firmware & trawling through the settings, but to no avail.

Has anyone had similar issues, hopefully with a remedy?

Hello @Trickytreechris,

does your lens have a switch on the side to deactivate auto focus?

If you accidentally toggle this switch (between "AF" and "MF"), the camera won't engage with the lens to pull focus.

Since it is a mechanical de-coupling of the auto-focus-mechanism, no settings-change on the camera will re-engage the focus.

I’d love to state a setting that needed altering, but I can’t actually remember now.
It did sort my problem though.
Fantastic camera & loving it, very steep learning curve!
