I purchased a Sony FE 35mm f2.8 lens from amazon.co.uk on 18 June 2018. According to Sony, this lens qualifies for an £80 cashback. I submitted my claim 30 days after the purchase date on 18 July 2018. The claim contained my invoice and a photo of the lens. However, my claim was refused with the message: "It appears that the date of purchase is the 21st of May while the claim was submitted on the 19th of June." These dates have nothing to do with my purchase. The messages on this forum suggest that this is not a one off mistake and that Sony seems to routinely refuse legitimate claims.
Hi derek68,
I'll make sure to put your feedback about your experience through so Sony can avoid similar issues in the future. I'm glad I could help you with this issue and that it's been resolved.

I am in a similar situation. I have purchased Sony a7 (Alpha ILCE-7K) Compact System Camera with 28-70mm Lens from John Lewis on 27-Jan-2019 and a month later applied for cash back as advertised. Today i received an email from sony support team stating that 'after checking the invoice...certain discount was applied... on the orginal price...which is not applicable for cashback...". There was no discount applied to this purchase and John Lewis was advertising at the time that the camera did qualify for cash back.
This is ridiculous and certainly sounds like a scam!!!
