AF9 does multiple panel refreshes after update

Since the latest update the above TV keeps asking you to do a panel refresh even if it was only done a week ago. I thought it only happens after 2000 hours?

Mine had only done 1500 hours but it asked to do it so I did. Then a week later it asked again. This is happening to a lot of people on the forums and not just me. In the Sony instructions there’s a warning that says the refresh must not be run more than once a year because it can damage the tv.

This is a very serious concern and something has made this happen in the latest update. Please look into it.

Thanks

Hello Sony,

any news about your „investigations“? I had 4 refresh announcements in the last weeks, which I rejected. The TV is far away from the 2000h of operation (600h acc. service menu). This is really an issue, harming the lifetime of the panel!

Please, give us some feedback.

Thanks.

Edit: Yes, I already did a reset after the last update...

@Hansen8  there is no Sony here, just users like you..

may you show us picture of the actual hours statistics of your panel and the request to refresh the panel?

@rooobb Sorry, so I misunderstood the moderator, who replied to the TO.

Sure, please find the pics in my gallery. One is dated 23rd of March. Second one, is as of yesterday. By coincidence, it showed up after taking the pic of the service menu. This one got flipped with the upload somehow.

ok it should not ask you to do it. WHich firmware release are you on ? 6.3598?

Have you ever accepted the refresh? if not there is no harm in doing it once for whatever reason the tv is asking for it. If you do it and complete it succesfully and it ask it again DO NOT DO IT AGAIN and call the support

PS In which region of Uk are you living? The english on your tv is very hard for me

I’m the original poster and on the firmware you mention. Mine has asked 3 time’s since I updated the firmware. I have carried it out twice and it asked again this week which I clicked on the later option. Why is this asking after every 200 hours or so? I think something has changed so it’s asking every 200 hours instead of 200 hours. It’s going to damage the tv.

Has said as an answer to the other post, do not do it more than once in a row. Escalate to the support in order for them to make statistics about the problem and include a patch in the firmware if needed. A new one should be on the road in this days, so maybe it will alredy fix this issue you are having

Thanks for your answers.

I have the latest firmware installed. Well, actually I dont want it to make a refresh, if its not intended to do so below 2k hours. What will it do after 1k hours? Another refresh? Guess, this would „hurt“ the panel compared to a panel with a normal refresh cycle.

Ps: I came here from an avforum thread and yes, I‘m not from the UK. 😉

My tv asks for a refresh every time I switch it off - the following day the small white light at the bottom of the panel is red.  Anyone any idea???

Hi roeltaylor,

What is the model of your TV and what is its software version?

I am getting a suggested panel refresh pop up every time I turn the tv off. I’ve tried probably 20 times to “refresh now” and the refresh never completes, instead after 5 mins I get a red flashing light and when turning on I get “refresh couldn’t complete”. If I choose refresh later I get the dialogue box again the next time I switch off.

if I go into expert display settings and try to perform the refresh manually it still fails. It’s not too hot and it’s not unplugged. I have to say I think the Android OS is to blame and it is a woeful OS.

I have a Sony AG8 Oled panel.

Anyone else having the same issues? Nightmare!!

thanks!
