Dimming issue after PKG6.2858.0082 software update.

Since the PKG6.2858 update I have a dimming issue with my Sony A1. The picture pre update was stunning, however since the update I am experiencing varying levels of brightness which has completely ruined ths set for me. Colours are lacklustre and mostly dim, a factory reset has failed to rectify the problem. It seems that a number of owners on the AVSForums are experiencing similar problems. Only hope that Sony bring out a fix but not holding my breath.

This absolutely is a software issue.  The history is that the TV was excellent, then Sony implemented (via a software update) hyper-aggressive screen dimming to avoid burn-in, then pretended it hadn't done that, then eventually acknowledged the problem, then pretended it had addressed the problem but never actually did so. 

The key issue is that if there is any static element on the screen (e.g. a sports score) the TV massively dims the whole image.  It's a ridiculous solution to a non-existent problem.

Then Sony moved on to new models and stopped trying to fix the problem or updating the software at all, leaving owners with broken TVs.  Sony's "solution" is therefore to buy a new TV that doesn't have the issue.

Regrettably this is a great example of a pattern of Sony making great hardware but having horrible software and horrible product support.

Wow, I didn't know that actually, but I mean can you also add your TV model? Maybe there's something else was implemented, or something we can can try!

Also, did you contact their support to confirm that?

Hi. 
well I have been in touch with Sony support and undertook several actions which ultimately rectified the problem. It was mainly re- boot stuff but is associated with the app on the home page. I had tried other app sources eg: Sky tv and x box which neither manifested the problems like the Google/android did. Hopefully this won’t occur again as I really love my KD 55A1.
