When playing with the PS4 usually once per session the banner with the HDMI port and resolution appears randomly. I have a 49XD8099 and it happened with both 6.0.1 and 7.0. Other people reports that it happens with the PS4 Pro as well.
I am not sure if this has been reported in here (I'm in both UK and Italian forums and I mix them sometimes), but in case did anyone find a way to fix it? Also, does it happen with the Xbox One as well, for people who have it? Because I have a feeling it's mostly a PS4 issue.
Actually I have done now a quick search and it seems I am not able to find a post with a similar issue. Doesn't it happen at all? My PS4 is usually set in English, the only difference is that I have the tv in Italian. I dunno, just wondering.
Solved! Go to Solution.
There is a fix for this, go in to Channel setup and turn off info banner.
I have had the same issue with a Sky+ box connected to the TV via HDMI, having looked at this forum i have turned off the display as suggested, but will this impact on any other functionality of the TV?
TV detail is: KD-49XE8077

Hi @Coldwarwarrior. This appears to be a problem with all XE TVs. The “work-a-round” doesn’t impact on any other functionality of the TV. However we would all prefer a fix! To add pressure please open a formal support ticket here: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/Contact/Email You will have to go through the initial troubleshooting steps (which is a waste of time) but more people that complain the better. In my case Sky Q and KD-55XE9305.

Not true. There is also no info banner for live TV via integrated tuners anymore which displays current/next event information when switching the channel.
People in the U.K. are probably less affected by the disabling of the info banner as they might be using YouView instead of Sony's bad live TV player.

Clearly you can leave the Info banner on if you are using the integrated tuners. This problem’s “work-a-round” is only required for external HDMI sources.

You are only thinking for yourself. What if I want to use the internal tuners and a PlayStation connected via HDMI? You will also get those intermittent info banners when using a PlayStation (or whatever other HDMI input device).

Why are you getting personal? Surely we can agree that we don’t want a work-a-round, we want the problem fixed.

Oh dear. I have been trying this for months when looking for a solution and now it works. It completely disables that stupid banner. Pressing "i+" still works, though (at least for the HDMI). So probably it shouldn't affect the usage much. We get the info only when requested and not randomly.
Hello guys,
I have this strange problem with my 65XE9005 TV and both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
I was woried that it's something wrong with my piece but now I'm glad that it's at least common and known issue.
Is there any solution beside disabling infobar entirely?
Regards,
Chris

Not that I know of. Sorry.
