KD-48a9 freesat tune with existing sky dish…..

Does anybody know if it is possible to tune freesat from an existing sky dish? I have recently cancelled sky and the only channels I can get using the auto tune feature are a load of random ones, no bbc, channel 4, channel 5 etc…

I thought I would pick up all the none subscription channels I get on my sky setup.

many thanks

Jamie 😀

I was waiting, hopefully, for someone with more knowledge than me to reply, but here is an answer, apparently:-

But ‘no switch’ means nothing to me; is it a satellite configuration option on the Sony TV, perhaps?

Failing this, search the Community for ‘LNB’, as I have a vague recollection that these are a consideration here.

I get the choice of Freesat or satellite generally, but it’s piped in, so I don’t have any dish experience 😀

From the TV side of things, it supports freesat, so it would normally find all of the non sub channels with a regular scan (not a provider scan).

That said, I'm not sure if there's some sort of restriction Sky could have on their satellites or something of the sort?

I struggled to understand it myself at the time since I don't use satellite much personally either, but I assumed it was a reference to "Fixed Antenna or DiSEqC" shown in this guide.

@Jamie_ftm if this hasn't solved it for you already, more info would be really helpful ^^

This is now sorted….. the problem was the LNB on the sattelite dish was a sky Q one, apparently this scrambles a lot of channels. I purchased a universal one for £15 now I have found all the channels!
