On start up getting Android and Bouncing Balls before TV picture

For the past 3 days my Bravia KD-65XE9005 starts with the Android / Sony Bouncing Balls logo routine with each power on after a long switch off (mainly overnight).  For short switch offs, it will switch straight back on.

It is connected to my Sky Q box and I get the same result whether using my Sky Q or the Sony remotes to power up.
Prior to this no problems in 4 years.

The TV is set to auto download the latest software.

I have searched high and low, help needed!!

Well, that must be standard behaviour with mains disconnect.  In my case I was getting the Android reboot when starting up in standby mode after longer periods (over 1 hour), and that is now fixed.

It will be normal behaviour for a long mains disconnect and you should never see the start up screen when bringing it out of normal standby.

All good then.

Hey there,

If you don't disconnect it from the mains, just leave it on Standby, and whenever you switch it on, it goes through the whole reset cycle by coming up with Sony logo and Android logo, then that's not normal I believe.

Cheers.

That's right. You should not see any start up screen from a standby condition whereas from a mains disconnect state you do.

As a matter of routine I only ever do a mains switch off, for TV and connected boxes, when going on holiday or when I have the odd picture freeze.

@Axcroft, how is it going after the update? Are you still getting the same issue?

Well......I did report that after updating to 6.7165 the TV returned to normal.

It operated normally for a couple of days and then today - from standby - the bouncing  balls and the Android rebooting returned!!

On my TV help screen there is in fact a dedicated help menu on this very subject of Android rebooting and sets out the option of a full reset.  At this stage I have just gone for a soft reset which I have done the next restart from standby was normal.

But I suspect that I may have to do the full system reset, and I will try that tomorrow if it reboots from standby again.

Random thought. Is the TV powered via any kind of power strip (extension lead etc) that has some form of power sensing and that disconnects power when the particular piece of equipment used for the sensing is turned off.

These are leads that sense when one 'nominated' item is turned off and automatically turn off all the other items on that power strip.

Other than that I would say you have to try the TV with nothing external connected to the USB ports. That could be frustrating to do but it is a process of elimination now.

Mooly01 .  Yes, the TV is linked by a short extension lead that has been in place for 4 years, and that serves one other item that is unaffected (ie, remains powered, when the TV is on standby).  As I mentioned in my last post, I have found on the Sony Help screen, a dedicated article on this known problem that suggests that the solution is a full factory reset. HannahEd01 , problem has returned but, as mentioned above I am saving a full factory reset as an option.
