According to Sony, some noises on startup and powering off TV are acceptable, but the ones I am experiencing are very loud and happens all the time. I’n really concerned this is due to some electrical malfunction or discharge.

Hi @Romas7

Most popping noises are caused by thermal expansion from the power supply unit.

It is possible there is some kind of fault; I've asked a colleague about this and will get back to you with any info.

Cheers

Mick

Hey @Mick_D,

Thank you for your reply.

As far as the expansion noise, I’m aware that it is possible. However, the noises /bangs are so loud and often that its becoming almost impossible to use the tv without being disturbed. Also, after powering off, if watched before night for example, the tv keeps popping loud for almost like 2-3 hours or more and keeps wakening up me or the kids.

I’ve been asking my friends about their tv’s and none of the experience anykind of similar odd behaviours with their tv’s...

Anyway, I’m looking forward for any reply.

PS. The popping noises in the video are recorded like in 10min interval, I just cut the scenes to make it shorter. As you can see it’s really often.

Hi Romas,

I found this article which relates to this topic: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors/articles/00090112

Also, I'd recommend ensuring that there is adequate ventilation for the set. Some enclosures may not allow for proper ventilation; causing the internal temperature to increase and the plastic to expand even more than normal. For recommended ventilation requirements for your TV, please see your owner's manual for the exact requirements for your TV. If you do not have your owners manual click here to go to the download center where you can download it. Make sure there aren't any heating or air conditioning vents pointing directly at your TV.
and that the TV is placed on a flat and level surface. Any tilting or an uneven stand can increase these noises.

Hi @Win_88, thank you for your input, I will read the manual.

But to be honest, my tv is placed on a desk, which I think is an even surface (like any other desk?). The tv is placed next to the wall without any other surrounding furniture or anything else so I assume its a good ventilation.

Recently got me a ked-75xg8096.

this issue have started her also. It is small for the moment, but it is annoying as hell. I cant distract from it every time i hear it.

I read some place that it is normal for the first 30 min of use until the tv is heated up, but min keeps popping 4-5 hours in.

yesterday when i turned it of it went on popping for 1,5.

The sound is random, and yes i dont know what to do. This seems like Sony is aware of it and because they have written on their page that this i normal and not a malefunction, i wonder if the would replace my tv to begin with.
