I've tried loads of different types of files ( Avi. Mkv. Jpeg. Mp4 . Etc) and nothing works ! I try the USB sticks on my  other TV and it's fine !! Help I'm drove crazy trying to fix this

Hi @Misslauraxx,

A warm welcome to the Sony Online Community! The issue has to do with the type of partitioning which your USB sticks have. Formatting does not change the partitioning type. My suggestion is to to use Diskpart from a command prompt* on a Windows PC and execute the commands below one at the time. If you get the disk number wrong in the [select disk #] command, you could entirely erase your PC. So pay attention to the disk sizes in the list and find the right number corresponding to your pendrive.

diskpart

list disk

select disk TYPE_THE_DISK_NUMBER_CORRESPONDING_TO_THE_PENDRIVE_FROM_PREVIOUS_COMMAND_HERE

clean

convert mbr

create partition primary offset=1024

format fs=fat32 quick label=FAT32

assign letter=s

active

exit

You then can copy files to the pendrive and use it with your TV. Note that the varied use of the pendrive in certain computers or electronic devices can occasionally make the pendrive inaccessible for the TV again.

Keep us posted!

Cheers,

Dutchice

* To access a command prompt on a Windows PC, click the START button, type CMD and right click the result returned (cmd.exe). Then select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. Click OK and continue on the possible Windows security warning.

I have just bought a 43XG8196BU which doesn’t recognise a USB flash drive formatted to FAT32 in any port. I just need it to show photos not video.

Hi. Not sure what you mean. The TV and flash drive are only 5 days old. Wouldn’t they be up to date? What would be my next step?

Hi @Billspen   Press [Help] on your remote. Software version should read PKG6.6510.xxxxxxx.

Hi. Thanks for the info. Existing software version is PKG6.6050xxxxxxx and the tv is set to auto download. I have downloaded the software version you mention onto a USB as advised , but............. the tv doesn’t recognise the USB!  This is the whole problem. Any ideas?

Hi @Billspen   All I can suggest is try another USB stick and/or format it in a different format. I always use NTFS without any problems.

With the USB stick already in a 3.0 (blue) port you could try a soft reboot (hold down the Remote power button for 10 seconds or so until Power off appears on the screen).
