Viewing External Storage Files on Bravia AF9

I am trying to view videos and photos I have stored on an external hard drive (WD My cloud) on my Bravia AF9.

I have managed to connect the drive to the TV as I can see the drive name in the tv settings but I don't now know how to access the files contained in the drive on my tv

Can anyone help please?

You have to activate and configure the DLNA server on your mycloud in order for the TV to show anything

Another alternative is to install an alternative player (I use Archos Player) that can access directly the NAS via SMB protocol likewise a PC.

Hi Gavin,

Please see more details here for the supported file systems for external USB storage devices.

Best wishes,

Hi Sean

Thanks for your update but it isn't a USB storage device I have, its an external storage drive which is linked in to my router by a network cablw qhich is then connected to my tv also by a network cable

Hi Gavin,

To access content though the network (DLNA), try using the respective app (Album, Video or Music) which should have an option for network storage so you can browse and play content. Let us know how it goes.

Okay, have located the apps as suggested and found the server im looking for, but no matter what app i access, music, video or album i get this message despite the fact the device is connected to my sky hub by an ethernet cable.

I have also tried connecting the device directly to the tv which was also unsuccesful.
