Converting RAW Files from HX99

I've just got the new HX99 camera and like to shoot my images in RAW.  I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and usually import using Adobe Bridge, converting to .DNG files.  I've installed all Adobe updates but Bridge reports it cannot process the .ARW raw files from my new camera.  Is there any other way of converting the raw file to .DNG or even .TIFF at a pinch?

I've used Topaz Studio to open the ARW files for the HX99 -works fine, although I prefer to work in Lightroom, but fine until Camera Raw gets updated. There's a lot of colour noise in the files...

Hi tisketsmum,

Welcome to our community!

Have you tried to import the pictures to your computer first using Sony's PlayMemories Home? You can download it for free from here. I'd suggest using it to import the picture from the camera to your computer first as Sony recommends so get the RAW files onto your PC so you can then use them on Adobe.

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers,

Hi; I can easily get the RAW files from the Sony HX99 onto my computer, but Photoshop doesn't yet handle them.
I'd like to be able to convert the RAW files ideally to .DNG but otherwise .TIFF so I can process in Photoshop.
Thanks for responding.

Hi tisketsmum,

You can try Adobe's DNG converter. You can get it from this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/digital-negative.html

Thanks Batee5 but I've already established that Adobe don't have a RAW converter for this file type yet.
I e-mailed Adobe and they say it's normally about 90 days from the release of a camera before they can get the converter issued.
I've discovered some Sony Software Sony Edit or Sony Viewer) that will convert to a TIFF so that will be good enough for now.
Appreciate you taking the time to look at this.

Hello @tisketsmum,

Affinity Photo from Serif might be the solution you are looking for.

I think the camera is too new for any software except Sony's to be able to handle the RAW files.  I've had the camera for about 12 days and that was as soon as the retailer had it.  I'll stick to the Sony software to create TIFF files for now as that's a good file type with loads of detail retained.

Thanks everybody for looking into theis for me, I appreciate your time.

I beg to differ - Affinity Photo could handle the RAW files from the RX0 on release while Adobe took a whole month.

If you want verification, simply upload a RAW file from your new camera to dropbox or google drive and I will proof it to you.
