Giga Juke

I have a sony giga juke.  It will not turn on using the remote - it is showing a blue flashing light as if it is in standby but the controls on the unit or the remote will not work.  This happended before and I had to turn it off at the mains.  Has anyone had this problem.

To be honest we should have been more active on this, if only to let you know that we have been looking into it

We had already posted in this thread that Sony was aware of the issue & that it was being investigated

Hi All,

just to let you know that Sony are aware of this problem & have been made aware of your comments..

Here is a response that we have received..

This issue is currently under investigation, unfortunately none of these  products have had any updates or software related changes that could  have caused this issue, we believe a service that is accessed by the  Giga Juke has changed, although nothing has been advised, we will update  the forum and the Service Network as soon as we find the fault and the  possible cure, either by Sony or the 3rd party service.

As soon as we hear anything more we'll update you ASAP..

I too have a Giga Juke and for the last ten months from new it has been working fine no problems what so ever. Two days ago I came turn turn the unit off and all I got was the blue "exploding" scene, it had locked up. The only way I could turn it off was through a "re-set". It came back on fine and then froze again I had to re-set once again. This is now the only way I can turn the unit off.

I am not able to get into any settings scenes

Is this the same problem as the rest of this thread? Is there a fix on its way? Any help out there?

Hi all

Some movement here at last but I don't have 'import from PC' or 'basic settings' on my gigajuke.

The top of my settings list is 'network settings'!

Any ideas?........

Dear All

Can I just say a big thank you to Specialist- Convergence for this fix, throughout today he has been in contact with me beta testing this fix and has been very patient as I am no techno expert and probably slowed him down a little.

I have been able to turn on and off my unit some 20 times to day without the need to go through the reset .

I am very grateful for this temp fix and to that end I once again offer my thanks and as I said earlier in this thread have faith in Sony and there team they do get it right most of the time.

Well done

Simon

OK IF YOU CUSRE DOWN YOU WILL FIND  BASIC SETTINGS HOWEVER :-

USING  GIGAJUKE MANUAL GO TO PAGE 86 AND FOLLOW INTRUCTIONS FOR TURNING OFF THE AUTO-SYNC UP DATE FEATURE.

WHERE IS SAYS GO TO PAGE 100 OF YOUR MANUAL GO TO PAGE 76 OF YOUR MANUAL

SELECT SOFTWARE UPDATE STRAIGHT FORWARD

PRESS HOME BUTTON STRAIGHT FORWARD

SELECT HDD JUKEBOX STRAIGHT FORWARD

SELECT SOFTWARE UPDATE IS STRAIGHT FORWARD

PRESS HOME SRTAIGHT FORWARD

IT DOES WORK I AM CONSTANTLY WALKING UPTO MY UNIT AND TURNINNING IT ON AND OFF - ALSO TRYING TO FOLL IT BY LOADING UNLISTED TRACKS AND THEN USING THE GRACENOTE FUNCTIONS AS PER PAGE 84 OF THE GB MANUAL.

WELL DONE SPEC !!!!

Thanks for your reply. But, if I curse down I don't find 'basic settings'. I've had it long enough to know that I've never seen the top two slections above 'network settings'. Exactly as it's shown on page 19 of the manual.

And yes, it does play music after it's been reset...But its now a standalone music player, not connected to anything (wireless receivers or router)

Well, the temp fix seems to work for me.  Thanks.  Apart from turning off the Auto Clock setting I cannot see this fix affects anything else, is that why it is a temp fix?

BTW, the instructions for the fix is clearly model dependant.  Like HDFatboy96, I too do not have 'basic settings', or a couple of other headings as shown.  Managed to work it out though.

Hoping to have time to try it later just hope that it gets the internet connection back as hubby getting more and more wound up LOL

Fingers xxxxxxxxxx

May be back later if I have any probs as have already worked out that it is model dependant.

If everyone that tries the fix can post their experiences then we can get an idea of how good the patch fix is ?

Yes, I definately have my internet connection back, and have been able to turn it on from standby repeatedly since applying the fix.  All looks good so far.

Sony should now confirm what the problem was, if the problem still exists and could therefore happen again, and why this is only a temporary fix.
