I have a sony giga juke. It will not turn on using the remote - it is showing a blue flashing light as if it is in standby but the controls on the unit or the remote will not work. This happended before and I had to turn it off at the mains. Has anyone had this problem.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Can I suggest that you familarise yourself with your manual and the index and lokk for headings such as clock and software update.
If you are operating a NAS S55HDE these headings and instructions will be in there.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the posting but I also have the same issue as HDFatboy, and my menu is completely different to that which you have given for the solution. Is this a case of updating the software first, if possible, and then running your fix?
For anyone that owns the S55HDE:
Follow the instructions on Page 86 of the manual for turning off the Auto Sync Clock Setting (NTP Settings)
For the wireless LAN instructions go to page 76.
Simonjash has already posted this. Its very easy - honestly.
It is back to the drawing board Sony, my Giga Juke has just frozen on standby again with the blue pulsing light. The temporary fix lasted 24 hours.
Shame that the fix did not last. Could it be anything to do with me loading a new CD on to the system? Maybe it went into auto-analysis and perhaps it is that that freezes it. Just a thought.
I am now using it without the network cable connected again.
Would really appreciate that permanent fix!
so far so good,
I did the fix, and have loaded a few new cd's and used gracenote ok. I am using the wireless dongle.
I do agree that the words temporary fix does alarm me, and would like to know why its classed as temporary. I wonder what makes it temporary.

That's it. I quit!
It's now a standalone hi-fi in the front room and three seperate external speakers for my ipod around the house. No dongle = No problems
Once you've resigned yourself to the fact it can't all be connected the hassle dissappears. Not ideal, I know, but so much better for your blood pressure.
Cheers all..............:smileylaugh:
BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD SONY. Not done it yet and won't bother now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COME ON SONY SORT THIS OUT

I tried reapplying the temp fix again this afternoon. It lasted for 3 instances of turning on and off on standby until it froze and the blue light starting pulsing again. In other words, it lasted for less than 5 minutes! It is easier to just disconnect the dongle and internet, forget about the (?!temp fix), and just use it as an hdd player for now.
Sony have indicated that a permanent fix is on the way from Tokyo. Not sure why it should take this long, but as long as they constantly keep us informed of progress I can wait a bit longer.
It would also be good customer service and treating customers fairly if the Sony Customer Service staff informed worried Giga Juke users that there is a known fault instead of lying that it must be user error (I was a victim of this, while behind my back they were informing my authorised Sony repairer of the actual facts).
I guess it was good of Sony to offer the temporary fix, it is just that it does not work long enough for it to be of any use.
Yep - appears to be a temporary fix only.
Yesterday, followed instructions for the fix.
Played around with the controls switching between HDD and CD and there appeared to be no problems.
Today, I've played 3 CDs and back to ON/OFF control freezing and blue light flashing.
Hope the crew from Japan can come up with a solution pronto.
Will keep an eye on this forum in the hopes!!!!
