I have a sony giga juke. It will not turn on using the remote - it is showing a blue flashing light as if it is in standby but the controls on the unit or the remote will not work. This happended before and I had to turn it off at the mains. Has anyone had this problem.

Dear ALL
So that we all know which unit you are talking about when responding to this thread can yo state which bit of KIT your are having the problem with.
Mine is a NAS - S55HDE.
Then those who are monitoring and trying to help us will be able to get a picture of which GIGAJUKE is affected - it might help them - you never know.
Simon
If it helps - mine is an NAS-S55HDE.
As suggested earlier, perhaps Sony could send us all a questionnaire requesting relevant details - oh! and also where to find the details required.
By the way - have you noticed the stated times of your messages? Seem to be out by an hour!!!

I also have the NAS-S55HDE and have not turned it off by the plug over the time I have been trying the 'fix'.
I have applied the 'fix' three times now, and not once has it lasted beyond a 24 hour period. To be honest, I am not sure the 'fix' has made any difference as sometimes my unit would not lock up for 24 hours after rebooting it anyway.
I have also turned off Auto Analysis but the unit still locked up.
I have to be honest and say that it is really irritating me that Sony seem so keen to add the 'Answer' tag to this forum. I asked that they take it off previously but it returned at the earliest opportunity (as soon as someone said they had a temporary fix without waiting to see if it actually worked). This issue is not resolved, either permanently or temporarily. Please do not indicate it is resolved until it actually is!!
Mine is the NAS-S55HDE.
On the subject of time shift, you just need to go to your preferences settings and set your time zone to where you actually are.
I see the temporary fix is supposed to be OK if you keep it in quick start mode. I do, it isn't.

Yeah, mine is also a NAS-55HDE.
I too have it in quick start mode so that it at least charges my iPod while it sits there being useless.
Auto analysis is off, NTP (online auto-sync clock setting) is still off.
Still have the problem. If there are any specifics that would be useful to help with fixing this, let me know.
Neil
I am having the same problem with my NASS55HDE which is 3yrs old and never used, the problem started mid Sept and from what I have read from the forum appears to be the same time as everyone else. Unfortunately I am a technical dinosaur but have tried the first fix of resetting. However the problem was still there. I have disconnected the wireless dongle and have connected via my router but still have the same problem. Until I try the next temp fix from specialist convergence, would you recommend that the system is disconnected from the internet altogether, because at the moment the system is totally useless.

I haven't disconnected the LAN cable yet, but will do that tomorrow.
We always unplug the unit at night, so now I'm not going to be able to??? Is this if I only want to reconnect it to the modem or if I just want to use it at the moment as a standalone hdd player??
Hi JayRoze, certainly in my experience the only way to use the system at the moment without it locking up is to disconnect the LAN/disconnect wirelessley, and remove the dongle. It then becomes a standalone HDD player only. You can then also continue to unplug it at night if you choose.
The temporary fix, in my case, does absolutely nothing because, with the internet and dongle connected, the periods between when the system locks up is no different if the fix is applied or not.
Currently my Giga Juke is a very expensive HDD & CD player, and without a fix that actually works, soon I will be looking for recompense from Sony.
Got up this morning to find the system had locked again - it is something to do with the shutting down process as it works before you turn it off and yet it seems to get stuck in shutting off and does not complete the sequence.
It would appear that the NAS S55HDE is a major in this matter
Have reset it so at least I can listen to my music.
It would be good to have an update from Sony ay this point with a clear explanation and proof that they are taking this seriously.
It little goes a long way
Simon
I have done a complete reset as per the PDF instructions and ensured all settings are as when unit is delivered, Auto Analysis on and quick start feature.
In addition I have it wired to my modem and conecting by AOSS to my other unit and they are talking, also have loaded a CD on sytem and went on line to check CD inforamtion it give me a number of variations which means it is talking to Gracenote
