My UBP-X800M2 constantly freeze after approximately one hour of 4K playback. IT happens with any of my 4K discs.
Any ideas?
Sorry to disappoint you regarding this one buddy but you cannot revert back to an older firmware update once you've already upgraded, not even with a factory reset.
Hopefully back to normal.
Full reset, power off and all cables removed for a second time.
Played two 4K Blurays with just a minor stutter on one, did not lock up or stop.
I am facing exactly the same issue with my player X800M2 .Do you think a full factory reset solve the problem
Hi,
I never had any freezing problem in the last with either an X00m2 or an X700 despite both being updated to what seems to be the very last update. However...I recently got the Italian Job from the US and it consistently froze Several times on playback on the X800m2 when played 3 times. I tried it on the X700 and .it did the same thing!
Whilst not suggesting that there may be a glitch with the X8000M2, you annot rule out dodgy discs! I found this disc mentioned above, had marks on the playing surface and cloth wipe marks on it! It was supposed to be new. I tried gently wiping it with a clean microfibre cloth, advised by Sony ut, still froze. Another new disc had the sound out of sync with the voices. So, we are now having to pay ridiculous amounts for discs and it is really worth checking them in receipt So , with freezing , don't rule out the disc.
If all else fails , Sony should be requested to do an update if we push them as the player is Not obsolete and still available for sale.

Thank you for your reply i hope so watched a couple of UHD discs Lord of the rings no hiccups or freezing after a full reset to factory default and 4k upscaling including internet are disabled. The Other day i watched Ambulance UHD it did have some hiccups especially during the helicopter scene under the bridge. once it happens what will i do? eject and close the tray repeat the same chapter where the incident took place and voila no freezing till the end. Hopefully Sony themselves can figure out why this is happening and insert the cure for this player
They must find a solution for this player because still selling it. whatever the issue is based on hardware or firmware they must fix it. i bought it as a backup player and did not figure out Sony players around all forums have freezing issues. My only mistake did not buy a third panasonic player because the already have are working like a champ.
Just my curiosity about X800 m2 it was built like a tank and SACD as an option to try it and see the difference. They should withdrawn it from the market due the specific problem arise here.
Thank YOU
Hi,
I will just repeat my ealier post from 2020:
"I found the problem myself. At my place this was a case of overheating.
I moved the player to a cooler place and the problem was solved.
My old sony blu ray was fine at the first location, but this one wasn't."
I have not had problems since, so I am quiet sure this is the solution. The player needs a much cooler location than my old Sony player.
Merry X-mas!
