Hi. I can't add my TV on the TV sideview app. When I search for the device I get "? device not found"
My TV is wired to my router and my samsung phone is connected via wireless to the same router.
I've checked the TV settings and in "renderer / access control", TV sideview is set to "on".
The TV can see other devices on my home network (Sonos / dlna server) and the sideview app on the phone can also see the dlna server and the sonos.
Oddly enough, I can select a video from my dlna server in Sideview and then stream it to the TV! So obviously the TV and app are communicating in some way!
Any ideas?

Hi there
For this app to work properly, im on the understanding that the TV needs to setup using Wi-Fi instead of a LAN cable (or at least Wifi switched on). Also, I have had a look at the compatible devices : HERE and unfortunately the EX403 TV is not supported.
DLNA works differently to sideview.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply.:smileyhappy:
According to the sony setup instructions:
You need...
a TV (or AV device) and mobile device connected to the same network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Sony support have confirmed that my TV model is compatible.
Also the sideview app says this:
Your router may not be able to find a home device if it is connected via wireless LAN. In this case, retry after connecting the home device and router using a wired LAN
Hi there
I have had another look into this, and so-far I stand-by what I wrote originally (unfortunately)
From:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.tvsideview.phone
"“TV SideView” will work only if your mobile device and your home device are connected to the same wireless network."
The reference about ethernet - Is that inside the app itself? As I cannot find any reference to ethernet at all
Also, for the instructions on "Registering" : http://info.tvsideview.sony.net/en_ww/faq/regist_tv.html
It mentions 2013 and 2011/2012 TV's - From my understanding, your EX403 is a 2010 TV.
How did you contact support for them to say that your TV was compatible? Was it via email? As even on the Google Play store, it does not mention EX403 as a compatible model : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sony.tvsideview.phone
Cheers
So there does seem to be some conflicting information out there.... 🙂
I got some information from here:
http://helpguide.sony.net/lifestyle/gb/view/
and this :
In case of setting Wired LAN as a way of connecting TV to Router.
From here... http://sony-paa-pa-en-web--paa.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/32025/~/why-i-cannot-operate-or-...
and confirmed here :
http://docs.esupport.sony.com/imanual/NA/2013/XBR55-65X900A/uc_uen/index_1018_1163.html
And yes it is the app itself that suggests using a wired lan if there are problems (as in my previous post).
And yes it was sony support who confirmed my TV was compatible via email. This may be the sticking point though. Maybe they have got this wrong. Although I did specifically ask in reference to the list and my particular model.
Hi mozart999uk
Im really sorry to say this (honestly I am) - I still have to stand by what I said in the original post (even with the added information from the links you provided!!)
In the links provided, I believe that they are referring to what is called WOL (Wake-On-Lan) - meaning that If you have a USB Wifi dongle connected to the TV - the WOL will not work (as the USB dongle does not have this feature) and would therefore need an ethernet cable connected as well - for the WOL feature of TV Sideview.
In 2011 there were many changes to the TV's GUI (Graphical User Interface) as well as backend compared to TV's in 2010 - therefore this is possible why TV Sideview is not compatible with 2010 TV's (2011 and up)
If Sony support confirmed that your TV is compatible - Unfortunately I have to disagree with Sony Support (fire an email back to them for double confirmation, might not hurt) - unless further information is provided. All the Sony compatibility lists that are around, do not list your TV model number.
Sorry Buddy
Cheers
Thanks for your reply,
I have just emailed them again to double check both compatibility and the wired / wireless lan confusion
Cool - let us know how you get on
Cheers
