Missing BBC iPlayer on Model KDL-32W705C (2015) and Firmware update Feb.2021 (V3.006)

I have not used BBC iPlayer  since January this year but went to use it over Easter and found the app not functioning and looking at all Sony installed apps it seems to have been removed. Any suggestions on how to reinstall?

Looking at firmware updates for the model it lists one in February 2021 as v3.006 but I have this already installed since 25/10/2019 as PKG3.006eua. Is this the same or has been been wrongly numbered?

Any one else had this problem?

I downloaded the update onto a memory stick but the TV does not recognise the USB on the screen.

Hi,

Many thanks to Joe Dohn with the solution that the Sony App has been removed from this model as BBC iPlayer has been upgraded. It is a pity that they(BBC) didn't announce it in the Radio Times as I'm sure many people in the UK with a 6 year old Sony TV have discovered it was not there.  As I record most programmes onto a DTR for later viewing, I tended to use iPlayer for catch up of selected progs  from other UK regions. BBC Scotland has some good progs not shown in other regions.

I'm still confused over the "firmware update shown for Feb 2021" as to whether my TV did update or not.

Your TV is up to date. I'm not quite sure what EUA stands for per se, but it's only the numbers that matter and you have the latest one.

Also, I forgot to highlight this before, but Sony also made this handy article for all the alternatives you can use to get discontinued (or otherwise not available) apps on your TV.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks Joe for your recent update on the problem and the link to the Sony article. I hope it has also helped other viewers with the same problem. That is the problem with  todays technology, you buy a product on the basis it will last for a good few years with various firmware updates then it becomes u/s after 3-4 years. The previous Sony TV I bought in 1995 lasted until 2015 and was repaired once.
