I seem unable to connect my new A317M to my new DG834GT ADSL Router. I have a Dell laptop and Dell Axim PDA which all connect first time, no problem but the Vaio keeps giving me the following message when I try to connect:
"Windows is unable to connect the the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of networks, and try to connect again"
1: The router is 5 feet from my A317
2: It provides me with an XP bubble at bootup telling me Wifi in range.
3: Wifi and Bluetooth are switched on and available and i have tried it at 2.4 and 5 GHz and with BlueT on and BlueT off.
I have reset everthing, router, pc, A317 and still the A317 will not connect to the router when my Dell D400 and Axim connect without any problems.
Any help would be appreciated.:smileycry:
Try turning off bluetooth when running @ 5Ghz
Also make sure all the WEP keys are correct and use the correct encryption and the SSiD is correct.
Not recommended as a long-term solution (IF it works) when on a wireless network, but try turning off the WiFi security on the router and see if it connects then. I had trouble connecting my Vaio to a Netgear wireless router because of the way the security key was generated by Netgears software. I could only overcome the problem (at the time) by turning off network security. (by the way I couldn't use WPA because one of the computers on the network was running windows98, which didn't support WPA for some reason.)
Turning off the BT while running at 5GHz will not work and is not allowed anyway. If you deselect 2.4GHz and deselect BT it won't let you close the app. I work for a Comms company so plan to get one of the propeller heads to sort it for me, as I have tried everything. But thanks for taking the time to respond!
Sorry, it's 2.4GHz you want to run it at.
