Black screen when pressing function keys

Hi guys, I've been having a bit of trouble with my Vaio VPCEH1C5E, in that whenever I press any of the function keys or a USB device is connected, the screen will go black until I click or press another key, and even then it sometimes goes black straight away again. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there was anything you did that fixed it? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue but on my VPCSB3Q9E. Would be great if anyone knew how to solve this issue.

I got a tip to upgrade BIOS and display drivers and it worked like a charm.
