Hi,
I have a SZ4XWN and I noticed that the graphics card is not great. Can I upgrade it with the top end NVIDIA card for laptops for example?
Thank you for any help!
Hi franciscocruz,
No, it's not possible.
Like most notebook computers, the graphics are not upgradable as they are integrated into the main board.
I doubt if you would find anything much better that fits in a 13 inch notebook. Anyway, this is a professional machine and it is not designed for high end gamers.
thank you for your answer. I am not really a gamer, but a professional user and I would like to have a dedicated menory just for graphics. I did not notice that the nvidia card has only 64mb dedicated memory ( sony disguises this fact, saying in the specs the the total available memory is over 300mb ( dont remenber how much now) which is true, but simply not dedicated. I didnt bother looking athe NVIDIA site beforehand of course...I think I should have.
I should have gone for macbook pro I guess. At 15' and not much heavier its a much better machine and upgradable to 4Mb ram, etc. (for those with no budget limitations )
It's not just Sony, I've seen this done on many laptops.
I'd always do a search on the net, see what specs there are before parting with even a penny.
Why would anyone want 4GB of RAM. I mean i do a lot of photo editing and video encoding and i have never ever been able to fill 2GB. What would you use it for? There is only so far you can speed up your computer before it doesn't do anything. Your graphics card isn't bad, its better than alot of other it just shares some of the system memory that you probably weren't using anyway.
Here(Down at the bottom) is the actually specs and a comparision to other Nvidia GeForce Go cards.
Here is your card compared with the Go 7300 and there is considerable difference.
