Frequently, when my laptop is powered on it makes a clicking sound and won't boot. I get the VAIO screen then eventually "operating system not found". At other times it works perfectly. Can anyone tell me what this might be?
From your description of the problem I would think that your hard drive is in imminent danger of complete failure - the clicking sound is a strong indicator. Back up your data before it is too late.
