Desktop icons rearrange after projector connected-VGN-NS10L Vista

When ever I connect to a projector or use the laptop to feed my TV to view iPlayer the resolution on the laptop automatically changes.  This is no problem real as it reverts when I disconnect.  However, the desktop icons are rearranged when the cable is disconnected and resolution reverts to normal.  Can I stop thiis happening?  It is not a big deal - just very annoying!

As far as I am ware there are no settings within Windows that will fix or restore icon settings after a change of screen resolution other than a re-boot.

There are however third party programs that claim to do this but as I have not tried any I cannot confirm this.

You could also try a Google for other third party applications.

I get this issue from time to time. Try updating your display drivers. Hopefully it would help.

Updating a Vaio's display drivers will not restore icons back to how you had personalised them..

Please be carefull with your advice as it could have a negative affect..:smileywink:
