Hello,
I have a sony vaio PCG-FR415M and I upgraded my DRAM memory.
Old situation: 2 times 256mb RAM
New situation: 1 time 256mb RAM and 1 time 512mb RAM
I tried to install the memory just like the manual told me to, but still my notebook doesn't recognize the 'new situation'. When I look in the BIOS it still says 448mb RAM (my grafic card takes 64mb RAM)
So I don't what to do, other programme's do recognize the 'new situation'.
Thanks for your help.
Sander.
I'm not 100% sure but I think that both sticks of ram should be the same size. Also did you buy the right ram (pc2700 etc)
Hey,
I bought a 512mb SODIMM DDR 266 and the manual says I should buy a DDR 266 so that shoudn't be the problem.
Also I went to a website where you can select your notebook model. And I did select my model and this ram memory appeared on the screen. So I assume this is the right memory.
Anyway thanks for your reaction.
Well thaty's ok then.
Maybe somebody will come along who knows whether the 2 sticks being equal in size is important or not.
I'm sorry I can't help any more.
Does anyone else know what's the problem?
