Fan not activating after returning from sleep mode

If I leave my laptop for a few minutes and it goes into sleep mode, when i return and reactivate it the fan does not switch on and the pc quickly overheats and powers down. Upon restarting the PC the fan works.

Wonder if tis is a software issue as opposed to a hardware issue?

Have you checked for any solution to this problem on the Sony Support site – possibly a BIOS update? As you haven’t given your model number we can’t provide a direct link.
