File Sharing Problem

Do you remember when my desktop f*cked up and I spent days trying to recover my docs. Well, that wasn¿t the only thing that¿s messed up¿¿¿¿.

As you know I have got my two computers (my desktop and laptop) that can access each other on the network. Well, kind of. They both see each other on the network and my desktop can access my laptop, no problem.

The only problem is, my laptop can't access my desktop, not because I'm getting some error, but because I'm getting prompted for a password whenever I try to access the desktop on the network!

The strange thing is, it prompts me with a login screen, but it will only allow me to use the guest account on my desktop. First of all, I don't even think you can set a password for the guest account, but other than that, the guest account on my desktop has been turned off.

Whenever I do turn on my guest account, I am prompted with an error message. Saying that I'm not allowed to access that computer because

"Login failure: the user has not been granted the requested login type at this computer."

Any suggestions guys :kissing_heart:

Lol. I had one of the worst experiences of my entire life in that city but it still didn't detract me from noticing just how awesome it was. And don't get me started on French girls, phwoar. Yes indeed I'm going against popular opinion and saying I love France.

The rats were a bit big for my liking though.

I still hate my parents for moving away.

I can't speak French beyond 'kiss me' and something much worse which sounds almost the same in French (yknow the one I mean lol) and I have no talent to learn it otherwise I would seriously consider moving there.

I'm sure you'd learn it when you were there.

I spent 2 years learning it at school and all I can say is 'I want a drink' and kiss me. And what comes after kissing. And one or two other chat up lines. I spent 2 years learning German and I'm equally bad with that, seriously I have no language talent whatsoever. I'm majorly in awe of you, it seems to come naturally to some. It's just brilliant wish I was like that.

Also a stab in the dark (because I was networking to Windows 98 which ain't the same thing) I created an account specifically to network with. I set the network up on that account, then used the logon name and password to be able to actually access it.

That's the way to do it.

If you mean I should create the same user/password on both machines and then login using this user/password on both machines then I'm afraid I've tried this and it still doesn't work

My XP/Pro machine can access my XP/Home files/printers, but my XP/Home machine cannot access my XP/Pro files/printer. When I try to it brings up a login box and indicates it is trying to login as "Guest" this box is prompting for a password !?!

Getting seriously pissed off now, and I haven't even started drinking yet
