hey guys, just got a lovely vaio yesterday and love it 😄 but i am not happy with all this useless software they have installed 😞 so i am trying to format without installing any of this..... how can i preform a clean install without installing any of this useless software, and only install xp?

the recovery partition is simply an NTFS partition whose ID tag has been changed; to make it explorable, use a partition manager to change the ID.
a linux live CD and the fdisk command will do this; partition magic might do it too.

I have formatted my FS-315Z and installed with a fresh Retail version of XP Pro.
I have got it up and running mostly, but one of the most annoying things missing is the lack of my old invisible scroller. I have installed the sony Utilities, but it still doesn't work.... does anyone know what I've missed?

I'm new on this forum, just having received my new, lovely Vaio C1Z/B.
I have the same issue with the preinstalled software. I own a licence for Windows XP Pro and would like to have this OS on my clean system. Is it still possible to install other software (like Vaio or Norton) from the recovery disc not having installed the OS from the same disk? I'm mainly worried about all the buttons and Sony specific features working.
Also: anyone tried to install Linux copy? Any results? Regards
