Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a sony vaio laptop? i'm on a GR PCG214EP at the mo, n the specs are pretty decent except for the measly graphics card!
Anyone give any help on this? thanks!
No, you can't upgrade the graphics card.
Unfortunately you can not. Once i read a new technology will provide that chance in future laptops that graphics card will be inserted and can be replaced in a new slot. However i have no idea when or will it be put in action.
The most we can do at the moment is hoping for driver updates
A driver update wouldn't make a graphicscard faster. I hope you are right with the new technology. I think a slot, like for PCMCIA cards would be a good idea.
Where you have read about this BurastA?
Actually the driver updates do make your card faster as it uses up the memory better. You can see the difference in games.
The tech new i read some time ago and it also said there was a disagreement between ati and nvidia never heard about it again though
I read it in a computer magazine

I read it in a computer magazine
It does as i have seen in friends toshiba that uses the same graphic chipset as mine. The reason why we can not see in vaios is that we can not get any updates. Even the omega drivers improve the performance even only a little.
The reason i did not give a name was because i forgot it cause it was a long time ago. After a little search i found that it is called MXM technology. You can find info bout it on nvidia's page www.nvidia.com/page/mxm.html as well as http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?articleid=524&cid=10
Cool, sounds that the laptops in the future are a little bit more upgradeable.
we can not get any updates.YEAH, It's time that Sony updates his drivers, or my neck exploded.
i think nvidia are planing on doin that graphics card update thing im sure i read a bout it on there web site
